Relax, luxury and elegance. These three words are the best to describe what you can expect from a stay in Hotel Savoy Westend in Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. A beautiful art-nouveau hotel with some of the most photogenic views in the city, it offers a perfect hideout for a relaxing break on your travels across Europe.
Located in the Czech Republic just two hours from Prague, the picturesque spa town of Karlovy Vary belongs among the most charming of its kind in Europe. And how to enjoy the place known for its relaxing atmosphere and healing hot springs the most? By treating yourself with a stay in one if it’s most beautiful hotels. Hotel Savoy Westend presents a perfect combination of luxury and elegance, but also wellness and relaxation in a way that you can find only in Karlovy Vary.
Historic hotel with a unique character
Hotel Savoy Westend composes of 5 luxurious art-nouveau villas, each of them breathing with a unique character. As if this wasn’t enough, they are looking directly at the most photogenic landmark of Karlovy Vary – the Russian orthodox Church of Peter and Paul, known also as the Blue Church.

Historically, the villas had different owners and each of them carries a different story. However, especially the central Villa Savoy has always been connected to spa and wellness. During the 1920s and 1930s, it was the favorite spa destination of the first president of Czechoslovakia Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk.
My princess apartment
Hotel Savoy Westend offers a variety of rooms, apartments, and suites. When choosing the room, we were keen to get one that would allow us to enjoy the views of the Blue Church. In the end, we stayed in one of the amazing apartments in Villa Artemis. It was actually the first time I have experienced a stay in an apartment (not just a room) in a 5 star hotel.
The apartment has its own kitchen, living room, bedroom, baggage storage and the best of all – a bathroom with a bathtub with a view at the Blue Church. And I haven’t even mentioned yet that both the living room and the bathroom have their own terraces, each of them being lit with sunlight in a different part of the day. In the case of the living room terrace, it is in the morning, in the case of the bathroom one, it is during sunset. I could hardly imagine a better place to have my breakfast in the whole Karlovy Vary!

The number one thing you notice when entering the apartment is the beautiful historical furniture. Especially when you realize that each room, including the kitchen, has its own amazing crystal chandelier like from a Cinderella castle! I can hardly think of another thing that would make you feel like a princess than this.
For the modern-day princesses, you will be pleasantly surprised that the apartment actually has two TVs. One in the living room and one in the bedroom. The funny thing is that as they are so close to each other, using the remote control in the bedroom sometimes actually changes the channels of the TV in the living room as well.

And one more thing – I shouldn’t forget about the fruits! Once you arrive, you will find a huge plate of fresh fruits waiting for you at the table. And it gets refilled the next day!
Great location in the middle of the city
The location of the hotel is perfect. It is situated in the most prestigious district of Karlovy Vary – the “Westend”. It is not just the best place to photograph the Blue Church, but thanks to its position on the top of the hill, you can enjoy some beautiful views around the city. If you are a Russian citizen, you will appreciate the Russian consulate in a villa just next to the hotel. And as it is a walking distance from the center, you can easily reach all the three most beautiful colonnades and hot springs within 5-10 minutes.
A place to calm down and relax
But Hotel Savoy Westend is not just a hotel, but first of all a spa and wellness resort. It has a 25 meters long covered swimming pool (the longest in Karlovy Vary), with various massage attractions and a yakuzi. You can also enjoy the sauna, massages and other various treatments. If you prefer to just sunbath on the open air, there is nothing easier than installing yourself at one of the couchettes placed in between the villas.
Pleasure for all senses
I definitely recommend enjoying your breakfast on the balcony of your room. But still, it doesn’t mean you should miss the hotel restaurant. Actually, there two of them. The Savoy Restaurant, where you can enjoy an amazing buffet almost all day, and the high-end Savoy Royal Restaurant, with the best specialties of the world-class chef Karel Barus.
Both are just great and if you go for the buffet option, you can meet the chefs helping you serve the meals, being really friendly and helpful.
After a good meal, there is nothing better than sitting down in the Kings Club Bar and enjoy a mixed drink. The stylish wooden bar is one of the coolest in the city and in the evening, you can enjoy sipping your dring while listening to a live piano music.
